Career Opportunities

Music Business Internships:
Accepting Applications.

Two-Semester Virtual Internship

Unpaid • College Credit Eligible

TSE Entertainment is accepting applications for its Music Business Internship Program.

Since 1975, TSE Entertainment has provided entertainment booking, event marketing and promotion, sponsorship development, event production, ticketing, and other services for clients throughout the live entertainment industry.
Our internship program is designed to give students practical, hands-on experience inside a full-service entertainment agency. Rather than assigning interns exclusively to one department such as marketing, booking, or event production, TSE interns work as part of a dedicated Intern Team that supports projects across the company.

Interns may have opportunities to work with different members of the TSE team and gain exposure to multiple areas of the entertainment business, depending on current company and client projects.

Important Information Before Applying

All TSE Entertainment internships are unpaid. There is no salary, hourly compensation, or stipend associated with the internship. Students may receive academic credit when approved by their college or university.

The internship requires a commitment of two consecutive academic semesters. Applicants should only apply if they can realistically commit to the entire internship term and the required weekly schedule.

TSE strongly prefers applicants who are currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program for the duration of the internship.

Recent graduates may be considered on a limited, case-by-case basis but must be able to commit to the complete two-semester internship term and understand that the position is unpaid.

The Internship Experience

TSE’s Intern Team works on real company and client projects rather than simulated assignments. Projects vary throughout the year based on the needs of TSE’s staff, clients, artists, and events.

Interns may gain experience in areas such as:

  • Entertainment and talent booking
  • Artist and venue research
  • Lead generation and prospect research
  • Event marketing and promotion
  • Social media marketing
  • Email and direct marketing
  • Public relations and media research
  • Writing press releases, blog posts, and promotional content
  • SEO and digital marketing
  • Artist promotional materials and electronic press kits
  • Event planning and event management
  • Sponsorship research and development
  • Artist and event logistics
  • Hospitality and technical rider coordination
  • Booking and event administration
  • Database and information management
  • Research and special projects
  • Other projects supporting TSE staff and clients

Because interns work as part of a team supporting multiple areas of the company, specific assignments will vary. The objective is to expose interns to the many functions involved in operating a professional entertainment agency while allowing them to contribute to meaningful projects.

Learning Objectives

During the internship, students will have opportunities to:

  • Understand how a full-service entertainment agency operates
  • Gain practical experience working on professional entertainment-industry projects
  • Learn how entertainment booking, marketing, promotion, production, and event operations work together
  • Develop professional research, communication, organization, and project-management skills
  • Work collaboratively in a virtual professional environment
  • Gain experience using entertainment-industry and business collaboration tools
  • Learn how agencies work with artists, venues, event organizers, vendors, and other industry professionals
  • Build practical experience that can help prepare them for careers in music, entertainment, marketing, events, and related fields

Requirements

Applicants should:

  • Be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate college or university program
  • Be pursuing a degree in music business, entertainment management, marketing, communications, event management, business, or another related field
  • Be at least 18 years of age
  • Have a strong interest in music, live entertainment, and the entertainment industry
  • Be knowledgeable about artists, music genres, and current entertainment trends
  • Be able to commit to 15–20 hours per week for two consecutive semesters
  • Be able to reliably complete the entire two-semester internship term
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Be organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple assignments
  • Be comfortable working independently as well as collaboratively with a virtual team
  • Be resourceful and capable of taking initiative when completing assigned projects
  • Have familiarity with social media, digital communication, and common online collaboration tools

Virtual Internship

The internship is conducted virtually. Interns work remotely using online collaboration and communication tools to interact with TSE staff and other members of the Intern Team.

Attendance is mandatory at a weekly one-hour Intern Team meeting. Applicants must be able to consistently attend this meeting throughout the two-semester internship term.

Because interns are working on active company and client projects, reliability, communication, meeting deadlines, maintaining a consistent weekly schedule, and participating in team meetings are important components of the program.

Academic Credit

TSE Entertainment welcomes students seeking academic internship credit and will cooperate with colleges and universities in completing reasonable documentation or evaluations required for approved internship programs.

Please note again: all TSE Entertainment internships are unpaid. Academic credit, when available, is provided by the student’s college or university and is the responsibility of the student to arrange.

Recent Graduates

TSE’s internship program is primarily designed for students who are currently enrolled in undergraduate or graduate programs.

Recent graduates will only be considered in limited circumstances. A recent graduate who applies must be prepared to make the same two-semester commitment required of enrolled students and must understand that the internship is unpaid.

Candidates seeking a temporary internship while searching for full-time employment should carefully consider whether they can realistically honor the complete internship commitment before applying.
